Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?"

Matthew 22:35-40 "One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him. 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?' Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.'"

Mark 12:32-34 "The scribe said to him, 'Truly, teacher, you have said well that he is one, and there is none other but he, and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.' When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, 'You are not far from God’s Kingdom.' No one dared ask him any question after that."

Luke 10:25-29 "Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, 'Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?' He said to him, 'What is written in the law? How do you read it?' He answered, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.' He said to him, 'You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.' But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, 'Who is my neighbor?'"

John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

John 15:9-10, 12-13 "Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love...This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."

Deuteronomy 6:4-6 "Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is one. You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart;"

Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs."

Proverbs 17:9, 17 "He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends...A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity."

Romans 12:9-10 "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another."

Galatians 5:6, 13-14 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love...For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Ephesians 4:2, 15 "With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love...but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ."

Ephesians 5:2, 25, 28 "Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance...Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it...Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself."

Philippians 1:9 "This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment."

John 13:35 WEB

Philippians 2:1-2 "If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."

Colossians 3:14, 19 "Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection... Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them."

1 Thessalonians 4:9 "But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another."

1 Timothy 6:11 "But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness."

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."

2 Timothy 3:1-5 "But know this: that in the last days, grievous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good, traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power. Turn away from these, also."

Titus 2:4 "That they may train the young wives to love their husbands, to love their children."

Philemon 1:7 "For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother."

1 Peter 4:8 "And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins."

1 Peter 5:14 "Greet one another with a kiss of love."

2 Peter 1:5b-7 "In your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control perseverance; and in perseverance godliness; and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love."

1 John 2:10-11 "He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes."

1 John 3:16-18 "By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him? My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth."

1 John 5:1-3 "Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous."

The whole chapters of 1 John 3 and 4 are also helpful.

*Unless otherwise noted, I use the World English Bible, because it is a free, public domain translation. Verses marked KJV are taken from the King James Version. Feel free to look up all the verses in your preferred translation! These lists are in no way comprehensive, and I am in no way an expert. These are simply passages I have found helpful in personal study. *
